The United Arab Emirates ranked first in the Arab world and 21st globally on the “Global Labor Market Resilience” Index for 2020, whose version was issued for this year in Davos, Switzerland during a special session on the sidelines of the fiftieth summit meetings of the World Economic Forum.
The UAE has made progress of 12 places on the index’s overall rating over the past five years, up from 33 in 2015, and it is the only Gulf country to be ranked in the category of the top 30 countries performing the index, followed by Bahrain with a difference of 15 places which ranked 36th globally in the index version for the current year.
The “Global Labor Resilience” Index, measures the level of unemployment risks faced by countries in the future based on structural shifts and changes in policies and technology applications, and their impact on the labor market, taking into account the geographical disparities. The index report for the current year ranks 145 countries and economies on the flexibility of their labor markets in light of the technological transformation.
